Growth and Optimization
Revolutionizing Construction and Expense Management: CarbiCrete's Journey with Concur Expense
CarbiCrete, a Montreal-based cleantech startup, is at the forefront of transforming the construction industry with its groundbreaking carbon-negative concrete. This innovative product absorbs more CO2 than it emits, aligning with CarbiCrete's mission to reduce global carbon emissions and deliver high-quality concrete solutions that make a meaningful environmental impact.
Building a Strong Foundation
As a pre-revenue startup, CarbiCrete faced the challenge of developing efficient processes from the ground up. Christina Zaino, the Director of Finance, was brought on board to lead this effort. In addition to managing finance, she also handled HR, IT, and administration, playing a crucial role in shaping the company's operational framework.
“I was hired to really build up the finance function from the ground up,” Ms. Zaino explains.
Laying the Groundwork for Success
CarbiCrete's vision to revolutionize the construction industry required not only innovative products but also operational efficiency. Initially, the company struggled with manual expense management, which was time-consuming and prone to errors. Drawing on her experience with Concur Expense, Ms. Zaino advocated for its implementation to streamline this process.
“When I started, there were about 20 employees using paper expense reports. We were looking to manage this in-house without adding staff,” she recalls. The automation allowed CarbiCrete to focus on core business activities rather than administrative tasks.
Efficiency Through Automation
“The implementation process of Concur was seamless,” Ms. Zaino says. Automated expense reporting-maintained accuracy and efficiency, freeing up employees to concentrate on innovation and growth.
More Time to Save the Planet
The adoption of SAP Concur solutions marked a pivotal shift for CarbiCrete. Employees could now submit their expenses electronically, reducing administrative burdens and errors.
“As the company has grown, having the app to track mileage is a great time saver and provides transparency for the whole company,” says Ms. Zaino. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with both employees and management appreciating the improved visibility and ease of use.
