What Else to do in Toronto if You’re Attending Fusion Exchange 2019

SAP Concur Canada |

Thinking of attending SAP Concur Fusion Exchange in Toronto this year? Make sure you schedule some time to see the city! Here are our top tips for getting around and making the most of your time in Toronto:

Where to Fly In

While the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) actually boasts a whopping ten airports, most visitors fly into the ultra-convenient Toronto Pearson Airport. Located just west of the city, Pearson offers many options for travelling to the downtown core, including airport taxis and limos, UP Express train service, public transit (TTC), rental cars, ride sharing and hotel shuttles.

Most modes of transportation will get you from the airport to the city within 25-60 minutes (depending on traffic).

Where to Stay

There is a Toronto hotel to suit every need and budget. Since Fusion is being held at the Marriott Downtown at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, it’s a natural frontrunner. Not only can you get to Fusion in seconds, it’s an easy walk to the CN Tower, Roger’s Centre and world-class shopping, too!

If waterfront views are more your style, try the still-close-to-it-all Westin Harbour Castle or Radisson Admiral Toronto Harbourfront.

Love heritage hotels? Look into Toronto’s first luxury hotel, the Omni King Edward Hotel (known to locals as the King Eddy). Or go off the beaten path and sleep in an artist-designed hotel room at the Gladstone Hotel (which also features a hand-operated elevator originally installed in 1904!).

How to Get Around (Without a Car)

Toronto can seem daunting, but it’s truly an easy city to navigate (especially without a car).

October is a great month to walk or bike share, of course! But even when the weather doesn’t cooperate, Toronto’s PATH offers an underground walkway linking 30 kilometres of shopping, services and entertainment. Don’t miss this attraction right under your feet – it’s actually the largest underground shopping complex in the world!

Taxis and ride-hailing options abound in Toronto, so you’ll rarely struggle to find a door-to-door ride. (Plus, if you manage your travel and expenses with SAP Concur, your receipts will automatically populate into your expense report… wink wink, nudge nudge.)

Public transit includes subways, buses and streetcars and costs just $3.25 per ride. For trips outside of the city, the GO Train or Go Bus are quick and affordable options that remain number one with commuters for good reason.

Where to eat

The Trios Bistro right in the Marriott Fusion venue offers a complete menu of contemporary Canadian cuisine with a focus on fresh produce. The attached lounge provides the perfect place to unwind with a lighter snack or beverage if you don’t want a full meal.

According to toronto.ca, Toronto has approximately 7,500 restaurants to choose from. Needless to say, you’ll have no trouble finding great food (including in the CN Tower’s revolving restaurant)! Toronto is a thriving multicultural mecca, which means top-rated Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Greek, Jamaican, Indian, French, Japanese (and so many more) specialty restaurants are always minutes away.
